One Day Workshop
Saturday 5 August
10.30am - 4.30pm
6 places available.
This workshop explores the medium of reactive dyes and discharge printing through screen-printing and painted-screen techniques.
Reactive dyes are suitable for use with sheer or lightweight fashion fabrics as no residue is left behind that can change the handle of more delicate fabrics. In this session you will experiment with printing pastes and create samples on a variety of lightweight fabrics.
Discharge printing bleaches out a lighter image on a darker coloured ground and replaces with another colour. Using different dyed coloured grounds or existing prints: learn how discharge printing can achieve light or bright colours on dark backgrounds, creating striking and unusual results. This workshop provides an introduction to each technique and is ideal for hobbyists who like to experiment with different techniques or for print designers for sampling. Previous printing experience not essential. A basic provision of materials for sampling is included in the above workshops.
